What is a great book?

my kind of book: i loved harry potter, a series of unfortunate events, and then there were none, 1984, and flowers for algernon.

any suggestions? preferably something very very interesting, adventurous, great storyline, and has a little humor to it.

What is a great book?
Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. If you don't love them, have some extensive testing done. Chances are you have a chemical imbalance of some kind.
Reply:A Brave New World by Huxley. It's much better than 1984, and I'm not sure why it's not as well known..
Reply:For books similar to 1984, I'll ditto Brave New World by Huxley and We by Zamyatin, as well as Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, and possibly The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. For fantasy/sci fi, try Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which has a good deal of humor), Ender's Game, Lord of the Rings, Heritage of Shannara series, Wheel of Time series, Dune, and A Song of Fire and Ice series.

A few of my favorite books you might find interesting, if you have a fairly long attention span, are War and Peace and Don Quixote. They have great storylines, adventure, and Don Quixote is pretty amusing in some parts. Have fun!
Reply:The brave new world suggestion is very good;

also check out 'we' (it was one of the original dystopian novels, though I can't recall the author).

I also personally like Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn. They might be your cup of tea if you like Orwell.
Reply:Definitely read Sunshine by Robin McKinley! I've read many of those books, too, and loved them, so I think you should give this one a shot. It's sort of an adventure/romance/vampire book that's unique, considering the genre. It's also got some added humor in it, so you should try it out!!

Good luck,

Reply:1) So Far From God by Ana Castillo--%26gt; Lots of mysticism, very good storyline.

2) Woman Hollering Creek and other short stories by Sandra Cisneros--%26gt; Lots of short stories, that deal with a series of life situations. Great great book.

3) The Narnia series is pretty good. Seems more up your alley.

4) The Hitchhikers Guide seems like a great book up your alley as well. Try reading into the series, lots of humor.

Too many to name, but here are a few. If you see any you like and want a review pm me, I'm such a bookworm, chances are I've read them.
Reply:Watership Down by Richard Adams. About a troup of rabbits their lives, adventures, myths and hero's and a language all of their own, fantastic epic story!
Reply:TWILIGHT, NEW MOON AND ECLIPSE!
