I have to read two of these books for honers english and i would like to know with ones are best. A Child Called It, The Bean Trees, Flowers for Algernon, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Giver, Jubilee.
Are any of the these books good......?
I've read Flowers for Algernon, A Child Called It, and The Giver and I liked all of them!
Reply:Flowers for Algernon and A Child Called It!
Reply:I vote for Flowers for Algernon and Their Eyes Were Watching God. I heartily discourage you from reading The Bean Trees (ugh).
A Child Called It seems to be the most popular, which means that possibly many/most other students will do that one too. So...to be different, don't do it! (That's what I'd do, anyway).)
Reply:A Child Called It is ment too be very good, i havent read it myself, but others i know have. and they say its very emotional, but very well writen.
Reply:I would suggest "A Child Called It" and "The Giver." "Flowers for Algernon" comes in a close third; nearly a tie, really.
I wish one of these books was "The Milagro Beanfield War"... that's a terrific book.
Reply:My wife says A Child Called It is a very good book. The Giver is lame, but I read it in 5th grade so...
Reply:A Child Called It is AMAZING!!!!!!!! DEFINITLY READ THAT!!!
Reply:I'd definitely read The Bean Trees. It's a bit long, but it's AMAZING. I think I read Flowers for Algernon, but it doesn't stick out in my mind, which means it was just okay- not good, not bad, just okay. The Giver is really good too, I love Lois Lowry. The next one in the trilogy, Gathering Blue, was really good, too, almost better than The Giver. (But it's not on your list so you probably don't care. I'm just nerdy enough to want to tell you.)
Reply:Definitely 'A child called IT'. That was an amazing book and it's sequel is good too.
Enjoy.
Reply:omg i read the giver a couple of years ago for school and I haven't liked a school book as much since. It was so good! they way its written is really cool and it kinda adds a new perspective on liek "the perfect world' its definetly worth reading :)
Reply:The Giver is a classic and I love it, but I know plenty of people who don't. It's a great, original story, and is perfect for high school students.
Flowers for Algernon is a very unusual premise for a novel, but that's why it's so amazing. It's also rather sad, though, but it was an enjoyable read.
Reply:A Child Called It and The Giver are AMAZING books.
