Yes, I read the book.
I just can't find these answers ANYWHERE.
I checked the internet already and asked my friends, no one knows.
1. How is Charlie's improved memory more painful?
2. Why does Charlie encounter hostility at the bakery?
3. How do Charlie's parent's disagree over him?
Any help?
THANKS! =]
FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON....Questions....?
1 Because he sees how people laughed at him before.
2 Not sure I remember, maybe cuz the guys who laughed at him before resent his improvement?
3 ??
Long time ago I read, sorry.
Reply:It has been a while for me, but Charlie's parents disagree quite a bit. The mother refuses to believe there's anything wrong and believes she can make him normal (until Norma comes along). I think the father thinks he should be put away.
Reply:1) although the other guys are right, you can get deeper by thinking about how sad it is that he gets a taste of being just as normal (and eventually smarter) than everyone, but it gets taken away from him.
2)hostility? I haven't read the story in years, so if theres a specific hostile event then don't listen to me but I assume the guys make fun of him just cause they can.
3) don't remember, should be a pretty simple answer though
Reply:I can only answer the first one. When Charley stops his child like behavior and becomes a conscious with adult behavior, he sees all the ugliness going on in the world where he was oblivious to this in a child like state.
