Flowers for algernon book?
no, not at first. his intellect was out stripping his emotional maturity. what caused him to change was when he realized that when he was laughing at the "intellectualy challanged" man at the party, he was laughing at what he was and could return to being. that realization make him mature and start seeking a cure.
Reply:even though charlie wasgetting smarter he stil was getting emotions as before when he wasnt smart but now he realizes people are makin ufn of him and its upsetting him i read the book so ask me more questions f you want!
Reply:Actually, when he matured intellectually, he matured emotionally as well. He realized that his "friends" were making fun of him because of his intellect. He also experienced feelings such as love.

I hope I helped, I don't remember much more. I read the book last year.
