Flowers For Algernon questions?

How did having little or no intelligence affect Carley's feelings, emotions, and perception?

How did the doctorsknow that the operation was not ging to be permanently successful?

Flowers For Algernon questions?
1) All along, even before the operation, Charlie had feelings, emotions, and an understanding of how the world around him affected him. At one point in the book after his operation, he speculates about whether his new-found super-intelligence has made him an emotional cripple, and whether he was actually a more well-adjusted person BEFORE the operation.

2) The doctors didn't know that the increased intelligence wouldn't be permanent. In fact, nobody knew until Charlie discovered what the problem was and named it the Algernon-Gordon Effect.
Reply:who the heck is carley??
