What is the meaning of the title "Flowers for Algernon" ?

Algernon is the mouse that undergoes the same experimental procedure as Charlie to enhance his intelligence, and then eventually dies. The reference to flowers refers to Charlie's last request that "please if you get a chance, put some flowers on Algernon's grave in the back yard...".

What is the meaning of the title "Flowers for Algernon" ?
Algernon was the mouse that died. The mouse that briefly "flowered" and then died.
Reply:Algernon was the mouse and the guy felt sorry for the mouse when the mouse died because the operation reversed. It may have something to do with the flower bed or even the feelings the guy felt for him.
